NASA is moving forward with plans to send another helicopter to Mars. The spacecraft roared into the planet’s atmosphere and crashed down, before covering several kilometers a day carrying scientific equipment.
Several landers landed safely on the Martian surface, using parachutes and rockets to slow their descent. Some are equipped with wheeled probes that can explore the Earth’s surface. Next up was NASA’s helicopter drone Ingenuity. Despite being designed on a shoestring budget, it completed an astonishing 72 flights to Mars.
