It’s been more than four years since then-teenager Darnella Fraser captured on camera the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, at the hands of white Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, but the effects of what Fraser witnessed on her brain may last even longer.
“I still carry the weight and trauma of what I witnessed,” Frazier wrote on social media on the one-year anniversary of Floyd’s killing. “I am not the same person I was before. A part of my childhood has been taken from me.”
