SpaceX’s Dragon supply ship is approaching the International Space Station with over 6,200 pounds of scientific experiments, crew supplies, and other cargo. The spacecraft and the station were flying 429 miles above the Indian Ocean at the time of the photo. The undocking of the Dragon spacecraft has been postponed to Saturday, Dec. 16, due to inclement weather, with the next opportunity being on Sunday, Dec. 17. NASA astronaut Jasmine Moghbeli is conducting experiments on microbial growth in microgravity in the Kibo experiment module. There will be coverage of the Dragon’s departure on NASA’s streaming service, NASA app, YouTube, and NASA Television. After undocking, Dragon will return with biological specimens for analysis on the effects of microgravity. Astronauts and cosmonauts on board the space station are conducting various health activities, laboratory maintenance, and cargo duties. The undocking will not be broadcast on NASA TV, and Cygnus is scheduled to complete its mission later this month. Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa is conducting various experiments and medical examinations. NASA engineer Loral O’Hara is undergoing medical examinations and assisting in laboratory maintenance. Roscosmos astronauts are conducting studies on digestion and performing maintenance on the space station’s modules.
