In male-male rat fights, the victim of the attack will often hide behind the female rat to distract the attacker.
“Think back to a time when you faced a bully or found yourself in another difficult situation. Either you faced the problem directly or you looked for a way to escape from it,” he says. Joshua Neunuebel at the University of Delaware. “Animals often face similar suffering.”
Fights between male rats can become violent, often resulting in biting and wrestling.
