Coral reefs are threatened by ocean warming

The ocean's ability to absorb heat at its depth appears to be decreasing rapidly, leading to increased ocean warming on marine ecosystems over a long period of ocean heat waves, and greater stress. This loss of important cooling mechanisms suggests that we can enter a new stage of climate change.
