General relativity teaches us that reality is, in a sense, a matter of perspective. Consider how a person “falling” into a black hole would see something completely different than an observer trying to watch him cross the event horizon, or edge of the black hole.
Those who are actually moving beyond this point of no return will notice that gravity is becoming stronger and stronger, but nothing seems out of the ordinary. In contrast, observers find that no matter how long they observe, the person never seems to actually cross the event horizon.
