The near failure of a century-old dam in Minnesota has drawn new attention to the vulnerability of the U.S.’s aging water infrastructure. Thousands of dams are in poor condition, and many were designed based on predictions of extreme rainfall that may be outdated as climate change increases rainfall in some parts of the country.
