Ultrasound therapy may be able to treat a rare lung disease that increases blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs and heart, which can lead to heart failure.
This condition, called pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), is caused in part by inflammation, which causes blood vessels to thicken and constrict. Previous research in people with no underlying health conditions showed that stimulating the splenic nerve with ultrasound suppresses inflammation.
