Like the rings that gather around a black hole, a wormhole surrounded by material could create strange, rotating clouds of hot plasma. Objects that fall into one end could shoot out the other at up to 200 million kilometers per hour, and even faster if the wormhole is massive.
A wormhole is a tunnel that connects two places in space-time. In its simplest version, this hypothetical object has a throat with a black hole at each end as its “mouth” connecting the two places.
