MBookmark your youth with the Tom Fool of Internet and pop culture. Adolescence began with Potter Doll Friends: Mysterious ticking sound (6th grade, 2007) And it ended with: Harlem Shake (12th grade, 2013).
Perhaps that’s why I’ve (somehow) made a career out of knowing 2010s meme legends and become the go-to pop culture analyst in about five different group chats. May I add that it is a truly underrated job.
1. Ice jogger
Starting with a YouTube classic, this ice jogger is absolutely eating it up on live TV. I’m not a big fan of hurtful humor (I was the kid who cried over Dumbo and covered my eyes while watching funny Australian home videos), but thanks to Jogging’s arrogance, this Videos never get old.
2. That’s not true, Ellen.
Ah, the beginning Eren’s downfall. Screw the pandemic. Dakota Johnson’s gracious appointment of Ellen as her replacement in November 2019 marked the beginning of the 2020s for me. It felt like the beginning of a new era of celebrity, and it reminded 23-year-old me that I can stand up for myself with grace and without coming across as mean.
3. Fenton!
Twelve years ago, a Labrador named Fenton chased a deer in a Richmond park. Someone crudely filmed it and a friend of mine showed it to me about 10 years ago – tears literally streaming down his face. Now, my family and I always quote this quote.
4. Delaney Rowe’s entire TikTok account
