Danish astronauts have criticized Elon Musk for claiming that President Joe Biden intentionally left two American astronauts stranded on the International Space Station.
Andreas “Andy” Morgensen, a European Space Agency astronaut, called Musk’s claim a lie and stated that the new administration was there to rescue the astronauts.
Musk responded by calling Morgensen a liar and claimed that SpaceX had made an offer to bring the astronauts back months ago, without providing further details.
The astronauts, Wilmore and Williams, were supposed to return on the Boeing Starliner but had to be brought back to Earth on the SpaceX Crew-9 Mission spacecraft due to technical issues.
The return of the astronauts was initially scheduled for February but was delayed to March due to SpaceX’s spacecraft preparations.
Musk has not revealed any alternative rescue plans that could have been implemented sooner.
Morgensen responded to Musk’s comments by stating that the astronauts were back on Crew 9 as planned and criticized Musk for not sending a rescue ship earlier.
