Apple to Release AI Server with M-Series Ultra Chips in 2029
Apple is gearing up to launch an AI server powered by the high-performance M-series Ultra chips, the same ones found in their Mac desktops. Set to hit the market in 2029, this would mark Apple’s first foray into the server market in almost 20 years, taking advantage of the increasing popularity of Apple hardware among AI developers.
The upcoming enterprise server will be available in two configurations, featuring either two or four of Apple’s upcoming M8 Ultra chips. Reports indicate that the project received a green light from Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, who championed the use of Apple’s hardware in this new venture a year ago.
This development aligns with the recent success of Apple’s Mac mini and Mac Studio among AI developers and enterprises utilizing Mac computers for AI workloads.
