Anthropic has introduced its Claude chatbot to the iPhone, posing a significant challenge to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Led by former OpenAI employees who left due to disagreements with CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic claims that their product has surpassed ChatGPT in measures of intelligence. They are hoping to garner support from the general user base.
In today’s tech-driven world, smartphones play a vital role in user interaction. Anthropic’s Scott White believes that for Claude to be a true AI assistant, it must be easily accessible on users’ mobile devices. The third version of Claude’s large-scale language model is available on their website in three formats – a fast “haiku”, a powerful “sonnet”, and a complete “opus” system for paying customers.
The Claude app offers users new features beyond convenience, such as accessing the device’s camera and photo library with permission. Business users can benefit from features like summarizing whiteboard diagrams, while consumers can identify plant species by taking photos while hiking.
Anthropic’s Team plan targets enterprise customers, providing chatbot access for entire staff members. Scott White emphasizes the company’s commitment to AI safety and research, striving to stay at the forefront of the industry to positively influence its trajectory.
This competition has prompted OpenAI to adjust its policies, allowing users to access their ChatGPT history without opting in for companies to train on their conversations.
