The holiday season is approaching, and smart string lights can add color and atmosphere to Christmas trees, porches, furniture and other spaces. Govee’s Christmas Lights 2 are currently discounted by 25 percent, with $25 off the 66-foot version and up to $100 off the 328-foot version. The 66-foot model is listed at $75, down from $100, while the longer version is intended to cover larger outdoor areas.
Outdoor-ready smart lights
Govee Christmas Lights 2 are an affordable pick in the best smart Christmas lights guide. The sale price is among the lowest seen since Black Friday last year, although pricing and availability can change.
The lights have an IP67 rating and are designed to withstand extreme temperatures, making them suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Outdoor installations require an outdoor power outlet. A weatherproof electrical box can help protect the connection.
The cable is green, allowing it to blend into real or artificial indoor Christmas trees as well as outdoor trees and shrubs. The included spool is designed to make the string easier to untangle and install.
App controls and smart-home support
The lights connect to the Govee app over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and can also be added to a compatible smart-home ecosystem through Matter. A small control unit includes a power button, though remote control and automatic scheduling through a smart-home system would be more convenient.
The Govee app can take a few minutes to learn, but it offers extensive controls. Users can adjust the lights’ color and brightness, use a phone camera to map the installation, and select complex animated effects. The app includes well over 100 presets and can also generate effects based on a user’s interests.
Despite Christmas being in the product name, the lights are designed for year-round use. Available effects range from Halloween animations to understated white lighting. The lights have reportedly remained in outdoor use for several years and are still working.
