The Success of Operation Vivaldi and Its Impact

Since its launch in May 2026, the Ukrainian III Corps has maintained strict operational security, keeping the results of their operations confidential. This has misled Russian leaders and disrupted their battlefield strategies, revealing what ISW describes as a “pervasive culture of lies within the Russian military.”

The success of Operation Vivaldi was further enhanced by Ukraine’s use of medium-range drones to target Russian fuel supplies, crippling their electronic warfare systems. In response, Ukraine’s own electronic warfare capabilities reportedly disabled thousands of Russian drones, giving Ukraine a significant tactical advantage in the conflict.
