The AI system developed by Meta can find solutions to mathematical problems that mathematicians have been unable to solve for more than a century, the company’s researchers claim.
This problem involves a mathematical tool called the Lyapunov function, named after the mathematician Alexander Lyapunov, which analyzes whether a system is stable over time, that is, whether its behavior is predictable. One famous example of such a system is the motion of three celestial bodies as a result of their mutual gravitational interaction. It is very difficult to explain the behavior of this “three-body problem”.
