Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have been touted as a revolutionary technology that will upend the concept of ownership and, more broadly, the global economy. These digital identifiers of ownership are stored on blockchain, the same technology that underpins cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, but to most people, the phrase refers to strange images sold for high prices.
