Canned water distilled from air will go on sale in the United States later this year as part of an effort to promote the use of solar-powered “hydropanels” that produce drinking water off-the-grid.
The panels, developed by Arizona-based Source, use solar energy to power fans that suck water vapor out of the air, where a water-absorbing material called a desiccant traps the moisture before it's released by the solar energy into a collection area inside the panel.
