Time is precious in our daily lives. We can gain it or lose it. We can save it, consume it, or waste it. If our crimes are revealed, we risk wasting time.
But of course it's something we can measure. In fact, clocks have been the high-tech artifacts of their times for centuries, from water clocks, pendulum clocks, and Harrison's chronometers to the incredible precision of atomic clocks.
