Double slit experiment shows how light acts as waves

The classic double-slit experiment in quantum physics shines light through two narrow gaps to show that light behaves as a wave. It now appears possible to completely replace the slit with a single atom.
Double slit experiments date back to the 1800s. When light falls on the screen through two adjacent narrow slits, stripes are formed. This is the result of light behaving like a wave, with both ripples coming from the two slits.
