The legendary Beatles member, arguably one of Britain’s most esteemed living songwriters, is unveiling a largely silent track from a recording studio. This release serves as a statement against copyright infringement by AI companies within the music industry.

Rather than showcasing a catchy tune or evocative lyrics, the track predominantly features a soft hiss and unusual sounds. This arrangement underlines the concern that if AI firms utilize musicians’ intellectual property for training generative AI models, it may lead to the erosion of the creative ecosystem and eventual silencing of original music.

Currently 83 and touring in North America, McCartney has placed this song on the B-side of his upcoming album. Is this what we want? is a collection of other silent tracks, set to be released on vinyl later this month.

Mr. McCartney’s contribution comes as musicians and artists intensify their efforts to urge the UK government to prevent tech companies from training AI models using their creative work without consent or royalty payments. The album’s tracklist asserts, “The UK government must not legalize music theft for the benefit of AI companies.”

Among the artists backing this campaign are Sam Fender, Kate Bush, Hans Zimmer, and Pet Shop Boys.

McCartney’s new piece is titled (Bonus Track), and like his classic songs, it comprises a beginning, middle, and end. It opens with 55 seconds of tape hiss, transitions into 15 seconds of indistinguishable clattering, perhaps caused by someone moving about with a door ajar, and concludes with 80 seconds of rustling and intermittent hiss, fading out slowly and emotionally.

Mr. McCartney stands as a prominent voice in British music voicing concerns regarding the government’s efforts to establish new agreements between creative professionals and AI companies like OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Elon Musk’s xAI, which require access to extensive training data, including text, images, and music.

“We risk having it hijacked, which is a concern, particularly for emerging composers and writers,” McCartney remarked about AI. “It would indeed be disheartening if AI wiped out creativity.” Bush, another artist on the protest album, expressed, “Will our voices not resonate in the music of the future?” Composer Max Richter added, “The government’s proposals would diminish creators, privileging those who automate creativity over true artists, writers, and visual creators.”

The government is assessing the possibility of creating an exception in UK copyright law for “text and data mining,” potentially compelling copyright owners to actively opt out if they don’t wish to have their works used for AI training. Ministers are striving to balance the interests of the creative sectors, contributing £125bn annually to the UK economy, against the demands of US tech companies advocating for minimal regulation, especially when they’ve recently announced over £30bn of investment primarily targeting data centers.


Legislation regarding AI and copyright is not anticipated to be discussed in Congress until 2026. In the interim, the government is collaborating with Open AI, Google, and human to promote AI adoption within governmental functions and the economy.

Mr. Trump has stated, “We must allow AI to utilize it.” He noted, “We can gather insights without engaging in complex contract negotiations,” urging international governments “not to implement regulations that hinder” AI companies from operating effectively.

“The government is attempting to navigate both interests,” copyright advocate and director Bivan Kidron told the Guardian. “They have demonstrated an inability to govern with the financial interests of creators in mind.”

A government representative stated that Liz Kendall, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, is committed to finding a balance between AI and the creative sectors, declaring, “We recognize both of these sectors are vital to the UK’s success and are engaging with both parties.”

Concerns were voiced following Kendall’s appointment of a special adviser in September, who previously argued that “regardless of philosophical beliefs about whether AI firms should compensate content creators, there is currently no legal obligation for them to do so.”

In response to Mr. McCartney’s remarks, a government spokesperson affirmed that the government prioritizes the interests of the British public and businesses.

“We didn’t think it would gain much attention,” De Francesco, now 36 and living in New York, stated. The musician expressed feeling “liberated” after resigning and turning the tables on his manager. “Now, I’m ashamed of you for treating everyone so poorly,” he remarked.

Did his viral exit hinder his job prospects? Not at all. Shortly thereafter, De Francesco found work at a museum, noting that the incident “will never come up” in job interviews—perhaps even something worth adding to his resume.

A survey of 2,008 workers in the UK released in July revealed that 15% have left their jobs out of revenge. Social media has accelerated this trend, with many sharing their stories online. Many reached out, expressing that his video inspired them to leave their toxic workplaces: “They said: I think I’ll quit my job too. This was my sign.” For those undecided, Slaughter advised:

Younger generations are more likely to execute revenge resignations. A report revealed that 26% of individuals aged 18-34 and 22% of those aged 35-44 in the UK have done so, compared to just 8% of people aged 45-54. After following the supervisor’s instructions on location, Ostler seized the opportunity. She delivered the letter and announced her departure. “Mozart of Mathematics” Stays Silent on Politics—Until Funding Cuts Spark Change.

Terence Tao, widely recognized as one of the world’s leading mathematicians—often dubbed the “Mozart of Mathematics”—tends to avoid discussions on politics.

As Tao stated, “I’m focused on scientific research. I participate in voting and sign petitions, but I don’t view myself as an activist.”

Following the halting of a $584 million federal grant at UCLA in July, Tao expressed concern regarding the potential impact on scientists, suggesting that if the current trend persists, it could lead to indiscriminate cuts affecting many, himself included.

“This administration has exhibited extreme radicalism, particularly in its alteration of scientific landscapes in ways even the first Trump administration did not,” Tao commented. “This is not normal, and I believe many people are unaware of the damage occurring.”

Tao is among a select group of prominent mathematicians who openly challenge the regime’s actions, labeling them as “existential threats” to his field and the broader academic science community. He has prioritized public advocacy over his research for the time being.

“The U.S. is the leading global funder of scientific research, and the administration is focused on consolidating America’s innovative edge. Looking ahead, IPAM funding—established in 2000 to enhance collaboration among mathematicians, industry professionals, and engineers—remains at risk. The current grant is set to expire next year and awaits renewal, with the Trump administration proposing a 57% budget reduction for the NSF. Requests for 2026 are under consideration.

Tao’s NSF-funded research delves into advanced mathematical concepts, particularly focusing on understanding patterns in long numbers. Although this research may seem basic and lacks immediate practical applications, Tao suggests that its findings could influence encryption methods for security purposes.

On the other hand, IPAM’s research has yielded substantial public benefits. Two decades ago, Tao collaborated with other scientists to address signal processing challenges in medical imaging.

“An algorithm we developed with IPAM is routinely used in modern MRI machines, sometimes enhancing scanning speed by tenfold,” Tao noted.

The Trump administration has employed funding cuts or suspensions as leverage to push for reforms on university campuses, employing a multifaceted strategy. Initially, they sought to slash funding for scientific endeavors by reducing federal reimbursements for indirect costs like equipment and maintenance.

Subsequently, they focused on specific types of grants, including those addressing diversity, equity, inclusion, and gender identity.

The administration also singled out institutions like Harvard University, Columbia University, and, more recently, UCLA, over allegations of racism and anti-Semitism.

The lawsuit corresponds with numerous funding initiatives, leading to ongoing legal disputes which resulted in the cancellation and subsequent restoration of several grants.

Tao expressed that the recent disruption in financing for his project has compelled him to defer part of his own salary to maintain support for graduate students. His recent activities have shifted from mathematics to attending urgent meetings with university authorities, seeking donor contributions, and writing an opinion opposing the funding cuts.

“This is typically when I focus on my research, but this has become a top priority,” Tao emphasized.

He grows increasingly anxious about the bigger picture, believing that the administration’s actions could dissuade young scientists from remaining in the U.S., asserting that if this pattern continues, he himself may have to reconsider his position.

Tao has observed from his vantage point at UCLA that graduate and postdoctoral students are increasingly inclined to seek opportunities outside the U.S. as funding uncertainty looms.

“In past eras, other countries with distinguished scientific heritages faced turmoil and conflict, prompting many to flee to the U.S. as a safe haven,” Tao remarked. “It’s paradoxical that we are now witnessing an inverse trend where other countries might begin to attract skilled talent currently based in the U.S.”

Just a year ago, Tao hadn’t considered leaving UCLA or the U.S., but he has received a handful of recruitment inquiries and is beginning to contemplate his future in America if the current situation continues.

“I’ve established my roots here. I raised my family here, so it would take significant incentives to uproot me. Nonetheless, these days, predicting the future is increasingly challenging,” Tao concluded. “I never envisioned moving at all; it was never on my radar. Yet now, whether for better or worse, all possibilities must be taken into account.”

The humidity in Tokyo has reached 35 degrees, and, unfortunately, so have the death tolls. Since the Edo period, summer in Japan has been tied to the emergence of supernatural entities. This season is notorious for a malevolent spirit’s presence. As temperatures rise, the boundaries between the living and the deceased start to dissolve, allowing trapped ghosts to potentially cross into our world.

Amidst this stifling atmosphere, I found myself exploring the mist-wrapped landscape of Japan in Silent Hill F. Set in the fictional town of Holy Island during the 1960s, players step into the dusty shoes of Hinako, a misunderstood teenage girl. Regardless of the summer season, Hinako’s journey begins in a dark setting as she escapes from her abusive, alcoholic father, wandering the intricately crafted streets of her homeland. Unable to live up to the beauty of her older sister, she faces ridicule from her peers.

“Gender is a central theme in the story,” hints series producer Motoi Okamoto. “We can’t delve into too much detail, but the 1960s marked the beginning of the women’s rights movement in Japan, which significantly influenced our choice of setting.”

Despite the town’s eerie ambiance, Evisugaoka presents a beautifully luxurious virtual environment. As we explore the streets, we’re compelled to inspect every cobblestone nook, slide open translucent bamboo doors, and admire the exquisite details of each Inazumi Shrine. This is a refreshing departure from the typical depictions of Japan in games, often portraying neon-lit Tokyo or the epic tale of an ancient samurai.

“Japanese horror games set in Japan haven’t seen any significant releases in the last decade,” claims Okamoto. “While Silent Hill has traditionally blended Western and Japanese horror, I’ve noticed Japan’s essence slowly diminishing. This is why Silent Hill F aims to enhance the Japanese theme more robustly.”

It doesn’t take long for the town’s unsettling charm to devolve into pure terror. As fog envelops Evisugaoka, Hinako is pursued by a puppet show, chasing the strikingly beautiful red tendrils sprouting from the ground. These crimson flowers can ensnare your feet during battles, leaving you helpless as a mannequin-like monster gazes upon you with judgment.

Notably, Silent Hill F does not feature firearms; instead, Hinako wields various makeshift weapons: daggers, baseball bats, and even magic. The gameplay consists of intense melee combat, with perfectly-timed dodges and counters replenishing Hinako’s stamina for follow-up attacks, evoking a dark, Souls-like survival horror atmosphere.

“One of my early goals for this game was to incorporate more action,” explains Okamoto. “However, being a horror game, we can’t fully commit to action without balancing it with tense moments. I believe we’ve achieved a delicate equilibrium.”

At first, I was doubtful. The initial hour of Silent Hill F felt cumbersome and repetitive, with attacks and dodges that lacked precision, resulting in disorienting early deaths. But as I persevered through the frustrations, I eventually found myself more engaged during a heightened battle—a sign that the combat rhythm is there. While the uneven difficulty in this preview build may need adjustments before release, I’ve experienced a late demo boss that killed me over 30 times, yet the brutal battles meld seamlessly with survival horrors.

“Many people say they enjoy the thrill of horror games, but I believe what they truly appreciate is the tension,” remarks Al Yang, the game director from Neobaldo’s Konami. “The fear of the unknown is one aspect, but constant jump scares quickly become tiresome.”

Instead, Silent Hill F embeds stress into every system. Drawing from Lovecraftian elements, players must monitor a sanity meter and make offerings at shrines to stabilize Hinako’s mental state. “You need to keep track of how close your candle is really,” Yang emphasizes. That creates tension.”

As I navigated through the compact alleys, the tightly arranged streets transitioned into misty rice fields and eerie abandoned farms. Yet, despite the horrors lurking in Evisugaoka, every monster carries a relatable human thread in Silent Hill F. As the town descends into chaos and Hinako searches for her friends, flashbacks and poignant dialogues keep players invested in her journey across time. Like previous installments, each encounter possesses a dream-like quality, further grounded by the meticulously crafted 60s setting.

“When navigating historical periods, if you delve too deeply, it can become disconnected from our familiar reality and veer into fantasy,” states Ryukishi07, the screenwriter for Silent Hill F, regarding the 60s setting. “While rooted in reality now, there’s little space for interpretation. I’ve always appreciated the possibilities that arise from the interplay between past and present—that’s right where fantasy and reality converge.”

It feels fitting to revisit Silent Hill during Japan’s equivalent of Halloween. This franchise, once thought to be lifeless and buried, now rises again, much like the spirit of Japan.

“When I became involved with Silent Hill, my vision was to deliver more than just a remake,” Okamoto shares. “We could have merely appeased old fans with nostalgia, but I was hopeful for progression. I believe fans can place more faith in Silent Hill’s revival…and that this journey will continue.”

A Silent Virus Rapidly Alters Our Genome and Enhances Its Growth

Viruses that typically cause herpes can reform their genome within an hour following infection, potentially allowing scientists to address severe cases more effectively.

Billions globally are infected by Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1), often without their knowledge. Transmission occurs via contact with infected saliva or skin around the mouth.

Upon invading a host cell, the virus replicates within the nucleus, where genetic material is preserved among the strands of DNA. These strands surround proteins, with some sections tightly coiling to deactivate genes while others form looser loops where genes remain active. In these less dense areas, proteins can transcribe DNA into messenger RNA, encoding for a protein essential for cellular function.

Prior research has indicated that the human genome becomes more tightly coiled following HSV-1 infection, possibly disrupting cellular functions, although the cause of this coiling was previously uncertain.

For further details, consult Alvaro Castells-Garcia at the genome regulatory center in Barcelona, Spain, whose team employs advanced microscopy to investigate HSV-1, infecting human lung cells and observing structures that are 3,500 times thinner than a hair. “This offers a higher resolution than most prior studies,” notes Castells-Garcia.

They discovered that within an hour post-infection, transcription factors were already pilfered from the human genome, corroborating previous findings.

Moreover, this thievery is what appears to cause the host’s DNA to coil more tightly, compressing it to 30% of its volume within 8 hours of infection.

The virus also interacts with specific areas of the host genome that encode the stolen transcription factors, inhibiting activity in those regions and enhancing the expression of genes that facilitate its own growth.

“Previously, I thought the virus made random contacts with the genome,” comments team member Esther Gonzalez Almera at the genome regulation center. “However, it’s clear that viruses specifically target certain regions of their genome, which often contain genes critical to sustaining the infection and producing viral RNA and proteins.”

In another segment of the study, researchers found that utilizing experimental cancer treatments to obstruct one of the transcription factors taken by HSV-1 inhibited its replication in human lung cells in the laboratory. This suggests that such medications could assist in treating HSV-1 in individuals suffering from severe herpes outbreaks and those at higher risk for complications, as González-Almela explains. Mild cases typically resolve without intervention.

This treatment may also be effective against other pathogens, such as adenoviruses that lead to colds, and noroviruses associated with gastroenteritis. “Other viruses similar to HSV-1 may employ analogous strategies,” states Benjamin Krishna from Cambridge University. “These could represent [potential types of experimental drugs] for addressing such cases as well,” he adds.

The Quadrature Climate Foundation (QCF) annually allocates hundreds of millions of dollars to some of the most impactful campaign groups and scientific institutions, at the forefront of research and advocacy in green transitions. It funds initiatives such as anti-methane vaccines for livestock, sustainable aviation fuel, geothermal energy, and carbon capture technologies.

As research budgets tighten in universities and across the UK, organizations like QCF step in to facilitate the shift toward net-zero emissions.

Established in 2019 as a charitable arm of the Four Seasons hedge fund, the QCF empowers founders Greg Skinner and Sunil Setya to tackle climate challenges. Recently recognized in the Sunday Times Rich List for their philanthropic efforts, they contributed over $6.7 million to climate-related initiatives last week through the foundation. In total, QCF has dispersed over $1 billion to climate interventions, ranking it as one of the largest and most influential climate charities globally.

Who decides which research projects to back, what causes to prioritize, and the strategic direction to pursue? Greg de Temmerman, a former nuclear physicist and the QCF’s Chief Science Officer, is tasked with evaluating proposals to identify the most promising initiatives.

Madeleine Cuff: Could you explain your transition from a nuclear fusion focus to climate strategy?

Greg de Temmerman: I worked on the ITER project [an international fusion experiment based in France] for seven years, the largest scientific endeavor on Earth. Throughout this period, I engaged in outreach efforts to demystify fusion. Unfortunately, the project faced mounting delays.

I was frequently interacting with decision-makers, which illuminated the divide between scientific research and policy-making. Consequently, I chose to exit fusion in 2020 and co-founded a think tank with a Parisian entrepreneur, aiming to bridge the gap between policymakers and early-stage technology. In 2023, I joined the Quadrature Climate Foundation where I continue this mission, but now with greater resources to effect change.

Explain your current role at QCF.

QCF’s mission is to promote projects and partnerships that can drive global change. Our portfolio includes support for early-stage technologies, advocacy, campaigns, technical work, capacity building, and more. It’s crucial to identify the problem at hand.

For instance, one might say, “I want to boost renewable energy,” but what obstacles stand in the way? Is it financial resources? Infrastructure issues? I was brought on board to ask these critical questions and ensure we pursue the right solutions.

How does charitable funding differ from traditional investments and government support?

Charitable funding doesn’t seek financial returns, allowing for greater risk-taking than typical investments. Moreover, we can move more swiftly than government entities. Essentially, we both catalyze the net-zero movement and act as a catalyst for other funding sources.

With an impressive annual budget reaching around $325 million in 2025, do you face significant influences?

We are notable players in climate finance but still small in comparison to what’s needed for a successful climate transition. While it feels empowering to operate at this scale, our budget pales in comparison to the global demands of climate mitigation.

You support various initiatives, from studying climate change impacts to advocating for clean tech entrepreneurship. Can you share a particular success?

We were among the first substantial funders of permanent carbon removal techniques. Our initiatives aimed to develop a compliance market while emphasizing accountability measures. This became critical following discussions ignited by the last international climate change report, which highlighted the necessity for negative emissions, leading to serious dialogue on the subject.

Last year, you introduced a new strategy, shifting focus towards adaptation and resilience in climate change. What prompted this shift?

The climate crisis is accelerating, with more extreme weather events becoming a norm. Adaptation is essential to any decarbonization efforts. This new strategy seeks to unify our initiatives under a coherent vision, aligning with what our founders find most impactful.

As part of the new strategy, you’ll be supporting climate intervention research, particularly geoengineering, which can be contentious. What motivates this funding?

Indeed, these scientific endeavors should predominantly come from public funding, which has been lacking for various reasons. Thus, we decided to support this research to ensure that vital questions are being explored.

This sector raises major ethical concerns. How can you justify financial support for it?

I don’t have a definitive stance on the ethics of geoengineering. Currently, it’s a complex arena that necessitates rigorous understanding, and I don’t endorse any immediate applications of geoengineering techniques.

Our intent is to spark discussions about geoengineering, especially as new startups emerge in this field, despite existing research lagging behind.

Is your support strictly for foundational research, or do you engage with field trials as well?

Much of our backing centers around fundamental climate science. One pressing issue in geoengineering is understanding cloud formation, which parallels many critical challenges in climate science. We funded a minimal outdoor experiment in the U.S. that was suspended after a few weeks due to public backlash. We prefer to remain cautious and utilize robust climate models to predict the impacts of geoengineering. Comprehensive observational capabilities are essential for effective outdoor trials, and we believe there remains much work in foundational climate science.

In the current political climate, with leaders like former President Trump rolling back climate policies, how do you navigate these headwinds?

Transition involves disruption; established systems resist change while new ones emerge, and this tension can be challenging. It’s essential to foster understanding of this dynamic and communicate the complexities inherent to the transition process.

The upcoming years may be tough. Addressing climate issues has become increasingly challenging. In the UK, rising electricity costs compound the disconnect between the public’s perception of renewable energy benefits and their current bills, which can lead to skepticism.

However, there’s compelling motivation to move away from fossil fuels, independent of climate beliefs. Oil and gas markets are notoriously unstable, making diversification essential for resilience. The key is to demonstrate that energy transitions benefit everyone, regardless of their views on climate action.

Climate disinformation and malign players pose challenges. What can be done to combat this?

Attacks on climate science persist, but the overwhelming evidence supports the scientific consensus. While some may cling to flat Earth beliefs, the facts remain clear. Increasingly, the discourse pivots to contesting solutions rather than the scientific basis itself. For instance, searching “Electric Car” on YouTube reveals numerous videos disputing their efficacy. These discussions, while interesting, rely heavily on data and understanding.

What exciting prospects lie ahead for QCF in the coming year?

To transform industries, we must bring down energy costs, and there are opportunities to achieve that. Furthermore, tackling industrial emissions—once deemed difficult—is now achievable with ready solutions. It’s an exhilarating time as skeptics claimed decarbonizing sectors like steel was impossible. But now, we know we can do it.

As you’ve identified as a major player, how do you cope with the responsibility of influencing climate transition?

It’s about recognizing our role within the broader system and acknowledging our limitations. It’s vital to approach initiatives with the belief that we can unlock new possibilities, while remaining open to the reality that we may not always be correct.

How do you maintain optimism in a time where climate progress appears stagnant?

I often say my optimism shines on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; I’m more pessimistic on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with Sundays reserved for reflection.

Is Keir Starmer Receiving AI Advice? The UK Government Remains Silent

Numerous civil servants within the UK government are utilizing their own AI chatbots to assist with their duties, including those supporting Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as revealed by New Scientist. Officials have not accurately recorded how the Prime Minister is receiving AI-generated advice, whether civil servants are addressing the risks of inaccurate or biased AI outputs, or how the Prime Minister utilizes these tools. Experts express concerns over this lack of transparency and its implications for the reliability of governmental information.

Following the acquisition of the world’s first ChatGPT logs under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, New Scientist has reached out to 20 government departments to document their interactions with Redbox. Redbox is a generative AI tool being trialed among UK government employees, enabling users to analyze government documents and generate initial drafts for briefings. According to one of the developers involved, early tests reported that a civil servant managed to consolidate 50 documents in mere seconds, a task that typically would take a day.

All contacted departments stated they do not use Redbox or declined to provide a record of interactions, which New Scientist deemed “troubling.” This is a formal term used in responses to FOI requests, as defined by the Office of Information Commissioner, which describes it as likely to cause undue distress, confusion, or irritation.

However, two departments divulged information regarding Redbox’s usage. The Cabinet Office, which assists the Prime Minister, reported that 3,000 individuals engaged in 30,000 chats with Redbox. After reviewing these exchanges, they noted that redacting sensitive information requires more than a year before any content can be released under FOI regulations. The Trade Bureau acknowledged retaining “over 13,000 prompts and responses” while also requiring review before release.

Both departments were contacted for additional inquiries about Redbox use. The Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), which oversees these tools, declined to respond to specific questions about whether the Prime Minister or other ministers received AI-generated advice.

A DSIT representative informed New Scientist that “time should not be wasted on AI which operates faster and faster.” They added that Redbox is integrated into Whitehall to help civil servants utilize AI safely and effectively, simplifying document summarization and agenda drafting.

Nonetheless, some experts raise concerns regarding the use of generative AI tools. Large language models are known to have significant challenges related to bias and accuracy, making it hard to ensure Redbox delivers trustworthy information. DSIT did not clarify how Redbox users could mitigate those risks.

“My concern is that the government exists to serve the public, and part of its mandate is providing transparency regarding decision-making processes,” asserts Catherine Flick from Staffordshire University.

Due to the “black box” nature of generative AI tools, Flick emphasizes the difficulty of evaluating or understanding how a specific output is produced, especially if certain aspects of a document are emphasized over others. When governments withhold such information, they diminish transparency further, she argues.

This lack of transparency also extends to the Treasury, the third government department. The Ministry of Finance stated, in response to the FOI request, that New Scientist staff members cannot access Redbox, indicating that “GPT tools are available within HM [His Majesty’s] Treasury without maintaining a log of interactions.” The specific GPT tool referenced remains unidentified. While ChatGPT is well-known, other large language models also bear the GPT label, suggesting that the Treasury employs AI tools but lacks a comprehensive record of their usage, as New Scientist sought clarification on.

“If prompts aren’t documented, it’s challenging to replicate the decision-making process,” Flick adds.

John Baines from Mishcon De Reya remarked that it’s unusual for a UK law firm to forego recording such information. “It’s surprising that the government claims it cannot retrieve the prompts used in the internal GPT system.” While courts have ruled that public agencies aren’t required to maintain records before archiving, “good data governance implies that retaining records is crucial, particularly when they may influence policy development or communication,” he explains.

However, data protection specialist Tim Turner believes the Treasury is justified in not retaining AI prompts under the FOI Act. “This is permissible unless specific legal or employee regulations determine otherwise,” he states.

Private Moonlander to go silent two weeks into moon mission

Firefly Air Space Blue Ghost Lander We were silent over the weekend to close out NASA’s two-week science experiment. The end came when the moon sets, but no longer provides energy Lander’s solar panels.

“The mission is complete,” Firefly CEO Jason Kim said late Sunday night via X. “But the ghosts still live in our hearts and minds.

Lander was open for five hours on a moonlit night, as planned before his death on Sunday evening. Photos of the moon sunset and glow will be released on Tuesday, Kim said.

Blue Ghost was launched by Cape Canaveral in January as part of NASA’s commercial monthly distribution program. It landed on March 2nd at the northeastern edge of the moon. Carrying drills, vacuums and other scientific and technical equipment for NASA. Firefly confirmed on Monday that all 10 experiments worked.

Later last week, Blue Ghost observed a solar eclipse of the total sun from the moon. This is a total lunar eclipse, as seen from the Earth.

Texas-based Firefly has become the first private company to land on the moon without falling or crashing after a series of failed missions by other companies over the past few years. Only five countries in the US, Russia, China, India and Japan have successfully landed.

The lunar lander of the Japanese company shared the SpaceX Rocket Ride, but took an even longer route to reach the moon. That Lander from Ispace is targeting a touchdown in early June.

Another Texas company, an intuitive machine, lay down in a crater near the moon’s Antarctic earlier this month, dooming the mission. This was the second imperfect mission for the intuitive machine. That first Lander brought the US back to the moon for the first time since the Apollo era after a perfect landing that hindered communication last year.

Firefly is already working on the next moon lander, and is striving to land one lunar a year.

Although referred to as “benign” tumors by doctors, uterine fibroids can still cause numerous issues, such as heavy menstruation, lower abdominal pain, and pressure on other organs when they grow large enough.
